Andrew Grumet asks about synchronizing desktop RSS aggregators across multiple machine, and adding shortcut "delete all posts X days old" options. I am not sure if a central server is the way to go. I suppose you would need it if you didn't want to run a web server on your desktop machine to synchronize your work and laptop computers to. Sounds like an interesting idea either way, I wanted this way back when I used Radio Userland. The user interface improvements will be in the news aggregator that is being built as an OpenACS package. I also thought of another improvement, "delete all posts from this RSS feed", so I can check the box when I have read the 20 entries and delete them all.

Mark Pilgrim received a cease and desist letter for his word rearranging web application. It's neat, but unfortunately the comapny is correct. They were already offering their online version of their product before Mark built his, and they have trademarked the term. So Mark's service is definitely confusing. He uses a trademarked term to refer to a substantially similar product.

So in this case the company is just protecting its interests. Mark links to a list of similar pages, and several do use the same term. I don't see how that justifies Marks misuse of a trademark though. The company does not (at least in the letter Mark posted) say that he is not allowed to provide the service, just not use their trademark to describe it.
